Roofing ceremony at Wuppermann in Altmünster
Altmünster / Austria, 19.02.2025 - Wuppermann Metalltechnik GmbH (WMT) celebrated its roofing ceremony on 29 January 2025. With a total investment of around 39 million euros, the specialist for precision steel tubes is building a new tube plant in Altmünster. Together with all the companies working on the construction site, the roofing ceremony was announced and the roofing ceremony tree was fastened to the roof of the new hall.
Construction work for the new hall started at the beginning of April 2024. Two highly automated tube welding lines and fully automated primary material and finished goods warehouses will be installed in the new hall complex. The construction phase began with the excavation work for the new tube factory: 72,000 m³ of earth was removed in order to reach the level of the existing factory. Due to the difference in level to the neighbouring property, a seven-metre-high pile retaining wall had to be erected to secure it. Hall construction began in August 2024 with an area of 8,860 m² - this required, among other things, 100 precast concrete columns. Geothermal probes with a total length of around 5,000 metres were drilled into the ground to heat the building in a climate-neutral way. All of the roof and façade work has now been completed. The final concreting work will be carried out in February 2025. This will be followed by the installation of the building services and heating system. The cranes and machinery for assembly are due to be delivered from mid-March 2025.
"These are just a few of the figures we can give for the construction," said WMT Managing Director Georg Wildauer during the celebrations. "It is with some pride and gratitude that we can currently state that we are on schedule and on budget and that nothing should stand in the way of commissioning in the third quarter of 2025," Wildauer concluded.
Thanks to this investment, the specialist for precision steel tubes in Altmünster will be able to produce not only tubes but also complex profile shapes in future, significantly expanding both the range of dimensions and the strength spectrum of its products. The logistics and production processes run in a highly automated sequence, ensuring an extremely efficient production method. During the ramp-up curve of the new profile line, the existing tube welding line will remain in operation, ensuring a seamless supply to customers.
