New Head of Research and Development

Leverkusen / Győr, 13.05.2025 - Since 1 May 2025, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Thomas Angerer is the new head of the competence centre for research and development and process technology at Wuppermann in Hungary. He takes over the management from Phillip Weilguni, who is leaving the Wuppermann Group at his own request.

The competence centre for research & development was opened in Győr-Gönyű, Hungary, in November 2022 and is equipped with extensive metallography, a modern scanning electron microscope and a corrosion laboratory, among other things. With this step, the Wuppermann Group has further expanded its expertise in the fields of metallography, micro-range analysis and corrosion analysis and simulation. With the R&D competence centre in Hungary, Wuppermann can carry out quality assurance analyses directly at the production site, both for primary material and galvanized strip. In addition, Wuppermann bundles know-how in process technology and optimization.

With a doctorate in non-ferrous metallurgy, the iron and steel metallurgist and thermal process engineer Dr Angerer has expertise in process management and optimization as well as in materials development and project implementation in the field of metallurgy.

"I am delighted that we have been able to appoint Dr Angerer as the new head of the R&D competence centre. Highest corrosion protection with lowest CO2 emissions - that is our claim and we are constantly developing our processes with this in mind. In addition to galvanizing, energy efficiency, media consumption optimization and renewable energies are becoming increasingly important. Dr Angerer's expertise will be a great asset to the Wuppermann Group. At the same time, I would like to thank Philipp Weilguni for his many years of valuable service to the Wuppermann Group", explains Mario Dorfer, Managing Director of Wuppermann Engineering Kft.

"I am looking forward to contributing my experience to Wuppermann's R&D competence centre and to the exchange of technological experience with the highly qualified employees in the team at the Győr site as well as at the Group's other production sites", adds Dr Thomas Angerer.

Since 1 May 2025, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Thomas Angerer is the new head of the competence centre for research and development and process technology at Wuppermann in Hungary.
