Site number three: Wuppermann now also generates its own electricity from solar energy in Judenburg
Leverkusen, Germany, 11/05/2022 – Since May 2022, Wuppermann's production site in Judenburg, Austria, has also been generating electricity via its own photovoltaic system.
The system was installed on the roof of the Wuppermann Austria GmbH (WA) hall. The investment volume was 251,000 euros. The annual electricity generation of the photovoltaic system is around 418 MWh, and the nominal output is 380 kWp.
"Our production site has already been using 100 per cent electricity from renewable sources since the beginning of 2019. This means that we are completely CO2-free in our electricity purchases. Generating our own green electricity was the next logical step within our sustainability concept," explains WA Managing Director Hubert Pletz.
In addition to galvanized steel strip, WA also produces galvanized tubes and profiles and is one of the largest production sites within the Wuppermann Group. WA is also one of the largest employers in the Judenburg region.
With WA, three of the Wuppermann Group's five production sites now generate electricity from the company's own photovoltaic systems.
"The start was made at our plant in Hungary at the beginning of the year. The tube plant in Altmünster, Austria, followed in March and again two months later our Austrian site in Judenburg also receives electricity from its own PV system. We are thus making great strides and will certainly be able to achieve our goal of CO2-neutral production in 2025 for the entire group of companies," adds Johannes Nonn, CEO of Wuppermann AG.
