Wuppermann donates to those affected by the floods in Leverkusen
Leverkusen, 02.08.2021 - Last week, Leverkusen-based Wuppermann AG donated €20,000 to the "Leverkusen hilft" ("Leverkusen helps") initiative of the Leverkusen Civic Foundation to support those affected by the floods of 15 July 2021.
"As a company with a long tradition at the Leverkusen site, it was important for us to find a form of support that would directly reach the people affected. The Leverkusen Civic Foundation does this quickly and unbureaucratically," says Johannes Nonn, spokesman for the executive board of Wuppermann AG.
After persistent heavy rainfall, widespread flooding occurred in several districts of Leverkusen on 15 July 2021. The districts of Opladen and Schlebusch, located on the rivers Wupper and Dhünn respectively, were particularly badly affected. The water has receded in the meantime and the extent of the destruction is becoming clear. Many people have suffered great damage or loss of their belongings.
"The willingness of citizens and local businesses to donate and help is simply overwhelming. Every euro donated to the fundraising campaign helps to alleviate the suffering of those affected," adds Manuel Bast, Managing Director of the Leverkusen Citizens' Initiative.
Affected persons can apply for emergency aid on the website of the Leverkusen Civic Foundation.
