Wuppermann generates its own electricity from solar energy in Hungary
Leverkusen / Győr, 08/02/2022 | Wuppermann commissioned a new photovoltaic plant at its production site in Hungary in January 2022. The expected annual energy production of the plant, which is located on the roofs of the factory of Wuppermann Hungary Kft. (WH) in Győr-Gönyű is more than 2,000 MWh. This saves WH about 775 tonnes of CO2 annually and covers more than 5% of the total energy consumption at the site. The rated power of the photovoltaic plant is 1.3 MW, the investment volume amounts to 1.3 million euros.
The photovoltaic plant is an important milestone for the Wuppermann Group on its way to becoming a CO2-neutral steel processor. The project is part of the sustainability strategy with which Wuppermann, in addition to consistently reducing its energy requirements, is focusing on the use of electricity from 100% CO2-free sources in order to achieve a CO2-neutral production process as early as 2025.
