2016

KLB Blech in Form GmbH is renamed to Wuppermann Systemtechnik GmbH in Herbolzheim. With this step Wuppermann underlines the structure of the group and the affiliation to the business unit. At the end of the year, production starts at the new plant in Hungary and Wuppermann Bandstahl GmbH in Linz ceases operations as scheduled.

 

2015

Wuppermann celebrates the first stone laying at its new production site in Hungary. At full capacity, Wuppermann Hungary Kft. will employ about 200 employees. More

As of 1st June 2015 the product range tube is allocated to the business unit flat products. The business unit is renamend in “flat & tube products”. The former product area of sheet metal components is brought together in the new business unit “system solutions”.

With the foundation of Wuppermann Inc. in Chicago, Illinois, Wuppermann takes the next step in developing business activities on the American continent.

2014

Wuppermann signes the leasing contract for a site in the Hungarian port of Győr-Gönyű. From mid-2016 a combined pickling and hot galvanizing plant shall start operating there.

2013

The previous production site of Wuppermann in Switzerland, CMD Creative Metall Design AG, is renamed Wuppermann KLB AG. The company is now active as sales organization for the whole Wuppermann group in Switzerland.

2012

The Wuppermann Group is celebrating its 140th anniversary. What began for founder Heinrich Theodor Wuppermann in 1872 with a single puddling oven and ironworks forge has become an important steel company with locations all over Europe.

2011

Acquisition of the remaining stake in H&B Fertigungstechnik GmbH. Wuppermann acquires KLB Blech in Form GmbH, a specialist for complex and high-quality parts made of sheet or metal. More

Wuppermann acquires KLB Blech in Form GmbH, a specialist for complex and high-quality parts made of sheet or metal. With locations in Herbolzheim and Kenzingen, Germany, it is situated in close proximity to Wuppermann Blechformtechnik GmbH.

Acquisition of CMD Creative Metall Design AG, the Wuppermann Group's first production location in Switzerland.

The long-standing commercial agency in Paris becomes part of the Wuppermann Group and starts trading under the name of Wuppermann France S.A.S. Its function is to strengthen Wuppermann's sales and marketing operations in France.

Wuppermann founds Wuppermann Polska sp. z o.o., its second location in Eastern Europe, and expands its product portfolio to include black steel tubes.

2008

With the acquisition of the operations of Eroform GmbH, based in Wilnsdorf, Germany, and the founding of Wuppermann Edelstahltechnik GmbH, Wuppermann starts production of stainless steel tubes. More

With the acquisition of the operations of Eroform GmbH, based in Wilnsdorf, Germany, and the founding of Wuppermann Edelstahltechnik GmbH, Wuppermann starts production of stainless steel tubes. Two years later, the company will be amalgamated with Wuppermann Rohrtechnik GmbH.

Acquisition of a majority holding in H&B Fertigungstechnik GmbH, based in Thalgau, one of Austria's leading sheet-metal processors and producers of high-quality welding components.

2006

Services for the group's Austrian companies and IT services for the group as a whole are centralized at Wuppermann Business Services GmbH, based in Altmünster, Austria.

2004

Wuppermann Blechformtechnik GmbH, formerly RIME GmbH, a well-known manufacturer of sheet metal in of Herbolzheim, Germany, joins the company group.

2001

Wuppermann Kovotechnica s.r.o. is added to the group and opens up new markets in Eastern Europe. More

The sales and marketing operations of the Flat Products Business Unit are transferred to a new company, Wuppermann Stahl GmbH, in Leverkusen.

The Städtische Gemeinschaftshauptschule Scharnhorststraße, a secondary school in Leverkusen, is renamed the "Theodor-Wuppermann-Schule".

Founding of Wuppermann Staal Nederland B.V., together with 30 percent-stakeholder Tata Steel, in Moerdijk, the Netherlands, and the start of construction of a new plant for galvanizing and processing wide strip. More

Founding of Wuppermann Staal Nederland B.V., together with 30 percent-stakeholder Tata Steel, in Moerdijk, the Netherlands, and the start of construction of a new plant for galvanizing and processing wide strip. This ultramodern location comprises a galvanizing plant for maximum coil widths of 1,550 mm, along with an integrated pickling plant, a cold-rolling stand, and a slitting facility complete with packing lines.

1997

Founding of Wuppermann Engineering GmbH in Judenburg, Austria, as a specialist for project management, plant design, product development, and process engineering.

1996

Linz-based Wuppermann Bandstahl GmbH, a subsidiary of Wuppermann Austria GmbH, launches production of medium-width hot-dip galvanized strip.

1995

Acquisition of Metallfertiger Kagerer, based in Linz, Austria. Two years later, the production operations will be integrated with those of Wuppermann Metalltechnik GmbH in Altmünster, Austria.

1989

Wuppermann launches a new process for galvanizing hot-rolled strip steel, thereby laying the foundations for a major wing of the company's current operations.

1987

Founding of Wuppermann Austria GmbH, to produce narrow steel strip with zinc-coated edges, in Judenburg, Austria, together with 30 percent-stakeholder voestalpine Stahl GmbH, principal supplier of the primary material.

1986

The non-profit company Wuppermann-Bildungswerk is founded in partnership with the City of Leverkusen, Krupp Stahl AG, and the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

1985

The companies remaining after the sale of the rolling mill in Leverkusen are consolidated to form the Wuppermann Group, under the control of the holding company Wuppermann Handel und Industrie GmbH, which is renamed into Wuppermann AG in 2000.

1984

Rohrtechnik Osthoff GmbH (Burgbernheim) becomes a fully owned member of the group under the name of Wuppermann Rohrtechnik GmbH.

1983

The rolling mill in Leverkusen is sold to Krupp Stahl AG in the wake of the European steel crisis.

1971

Acquisition of a stake in the Burgbernheim-based company Rohrtechnik Osthoff GmbH.

1964

Acquisition of the Austrian company Eisen- und Metallwerke Altmünster GmbH (EMA) by the Wuppermann family. In 1991, EMA will become Wuppermann Metalltechnik GmbH.

1930

Start of the production of cold-rolled profiles.

Workforce numbers in Leverkusen rise to 400.

Theodor Wuppermann sells the factory in Düsseldorf and relocates the company to Leverkusen, where it is based to this very day.

Theodor Wuppermann founds Wuppermann — a manufacturer of semi-finished products and forged parts — in the Oberbilk district of Düsseldorf.
