Wuppermann sets foot in the American market

Leverkusen / Hanover, 25 October 2016 – With the founding of Wuppermann Inc. based in Chicago, Illinois in the beginning of 2015 Wuppermann has taken the next step in building up its business activities in North America. The steel company sees great potential there, particularly for the products of its newly restructured Business Unit Flat & Tube Products.

“After more than 140 years we’re coming to a point where we say that Europe is almost too small for us”, said Dr. C. L. Theodor Wuppermann, spokesman of the board of Management of Wuppermann AG and president of Wuppermann Inc. “We see a great potential for sales in the USA, for example for our WGalweld tubes in the sprinkler market. We’ve already had the opportunity of introducing our products several times to the sprinkler industry in specialized trade fairs and congresses in Germany as well as the USA.”

WGalweld is a special product from the tube division of Wuppermann. Steel tubes with a particularly high resistance to corrosion are in demand in many areas of application, and with WGalweld Wuppermann has developed the optimal solution. This new generation of galvanized tubes resulted at the end of an extensive process of development. Continuous thermal galvanizing ensures that the inner and outer weld are also fully protected with an exceptionally adhesive zinc coating – and protects the galvanized tubes even in areas of use with a high risk of corrosion. The production is entirely tailored to the customer’s needs. Customer-specific zinc coatings in combination with thin wall thicknesses and differential galvanizing are just some examples of our great flexibility.

But Wuppermann is not just expanding to the West. Since the end of 2013 Wuppermann has 34.8 percent of the shares of Galva Metal A.Ş., an internationally active steel dealer and steel service center based in Kocaeli near Istanbul, Turkey. “With our share of Galva Metal we were able to gain direct access to the growing Turkish steel market and continue to expand our sales activities there”, said Dr. Wuppermann. “In this way we’re consistently implementing our growth strategy of opening up new markets outside Western Europe as well.”
