Wuppermann opens new competence centre for research development in hungary

The Wuppermann Group, one of the largest independent strip galvanizers in Europe, officially opened its new Research & Development Competence Centre in Győr-Gönyű, Hungary, on Monday 28 November 2022. Among other things, the new R&D competence centre is equipped with a modern scanning electron microscope and corrosion laboratory. With this, the Wuppermann Group is further expanding its expertise in the areas of metallography, micro-area analytics and corrosion analysis and simulation. Wuppermann can now carry out quality assurance analyses directly at the production site even faster than before, both for the input material and the galvanized strip. The new equipment will provide further insights into products and materials. In addition, Wuppermann is bundling know-how in process technology and optimisation: "Maximum corrosion protection with the lowest CO2 emissions - that is our claim and with this in mind we are constantly developing our processes. In addition to galvanizing itself, energy efficiency, media consumption optimisation and renewable energies are increasingly coming into focus. With the new R&D centre, we have the necessary technological prerequisites and qualified employees right on site," says Mario Dorfer, Managing Director of Wuppermann Hungary kft. "I am looking forward to the wide range of possibilities available to us here thanks to state-of-the-art technology and also to further expanding the exchange of technological experience within the Wuppermann Group from this competence centre," adds Philipp Weilguni, who was introduced as the head of the competence centre at the opening. During a tour, the visitors were given an insight into the performance of the scanning electron microscope and the corrosion laboratory, which can be used to simulate the corrosion behaviour of various galvanised products.
